Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to the Maasai Mara
Pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or JKIA at around 7:00am. Stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, then continue through Narok to the Mara (about 5 to 6 hours). Lunch at camp, then an afternoon game drive until sunset.
Day 2: Full day in the Maasai Mara
A full day on the plains with a picnic lunch, so you can follow the action without rushing back. In migration season we head towards the Mara River for crossings. Early risers can add a hot air balloon flight at dawn.
Day 3: Morning game drive and return to Nairobi
One last early drive when predators are most active, breakfast at camp and the drive back to Nairobi. Drop-off at your hotel or the airport by late afternoon.
Every itinerary is a starting point. We can add days, upgrade lodges, swap parks or add a beach stay, because every Chasylm trip is a tailor-made safari.

Frequently asked questions
Is 3 days enough for the Maasai Mara?
Yes, three days gives you two nights and three to four game drives, which is enough to see the Big Five in most seasons. If you want more relaxed viewing or the migration river crossings, choose 4 or 5 days.
Can we fly instead of drive?
Yes. Daily flights from Wilson Airport reach the Mara airstrips in about 45 minutes. A fly-in safari costs more but saves about 10 hours of driving. Ask us for a fly-in quote.
When is the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara?
The herds are usually in the Mara from July to October, with river crossings most common in August and September. Exact timing depends on the rains.
Is this a private or shared safari?
Our standard price is for a private safari. If you travel solo on a budget, ask about joining a small shared group to lower the cost.
